Datuk Subbiah was the Penang MIC chairman from 1971 to 1990.
Datuk Subbiah served as the Bagan Dalam assemblyman for three terms from 1974 to 1986.

Tun Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dato' Haji Sardon bin Haji Jubir SMN., PMN., DUPN., SPMJ., SPMK was born on March 19, 1917 in Sungai Kluang, Rengit, Batu Pahat, Johor. His father, Tuan Haji Jubir bin Haji Mohd. Admin was a well known Land/Plantation owner, businessman in Johore and later as kathi in Singapore.
