TUN Sardon Foundation donated 3,500 isolation gowns and 4,000 three-ply surgical masks to Penang Hospital to show support for medical frontliners.

Foundation board member Datuk Tan Gin Soon said the medical isolation gowns and face masks are among the essential items used by the frontliners in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

“According to the doctors, they need a lot of isolation gowns and masks,” he said at a simple presentation ceremony.

“When we realised this, our foundation decided to contribute these items to them.

“The doctors and nurses can use the gowns and masks only once and they need to change the items frequently throughout the day.

“I am told that the items we are giving them can last them for about a month.

“If the hospital requires more protective gear, we will see what we can do to help,” he added.

Tan said the isolation gowns and masks cost RM20,000.

He also urged the public to do their part in contributing protective gear to hospitals that run low on supply.

Also present were Tun Sardon Foundation honorary secretary Andrew Koay as well as hospital deputy director Dr Nur Asyura Muhammad and pharmacy department head Atisha Abdul Hanif.
